Maps: St. Maarten Island Map | St. Maarten City Map
St. Maarten/St. Martin is truly an international island and as such is the gastronomic capital of the Caribbean. There are hundreds of gourmet restaurants, bistros and sidewalk cafés on this little island that is shared by two countries.
Chefs trained in Europe prepare world-class gourmet meals and exquisite Creole, French and West Indian delights await you on both sides of the island. The most discerning culinary souls are sure to be satisfied with unforgettable offerings of fine dining, Caribbean home-cooking and lounge cuisine.
International/Sushi
The all-new Bamboo Bernies is a hip, urban-chic restaurant and lounge mixing Asian and Latin elements both in design and menu. The best, most creative sushi on the island for seven years straight plus an exotic mix of flavors and a comprehensive vegetarian menu, too. Their Buddha Lounge pulses at night to the lounge beats of international DJs. Bamboo features St. Maarten's first non-smoking dining room; smoking is permitted in the lounge and on the patio. Open for lunch and dinner. Takeout is popular and the restaurant serves later than most in St. Maarten. Located at the Sonesta Maho Resort, 2nd floor.
Southern US/Grill
The motto here is "Put Some South in Yo' Mouth", that's Southern cookin' North-Carolina style. After serving New Yorkers slow-smoked barbecue for more than 20 years, Brother Jimmy's has brought their down-home cooking and hospitality to St. Maarten. Not just simply a barbecue joint, Brother Jimmy's is the go-to place for sports fans and anyone looking for a fun night out. A classic rock 'n' roll bar with great and affordable food. The ribs are delicious and fall off the bone. Purists will adore the classic pulled-pork sandwich (try it with cole slaw on top). Families should note that while the bar rocks to Bon Jovi and U2 after 9 p.m., the place is very kid friendly and children 10 and under eat for free. Located minutes from Princess Juliana Airport, at the Sonesta Maho Resort across from the Casino.
International
A haven for fans of music, food, and great times on the Boardwalk in Philipsburg across from the Captain Hodge Wharf and overlooking beautiful Great Bay. Waterfront Dining Plaza
A Mediterranean village in the heart of the Caribbean! Uniquely situated on a waterfront plaza at the French/Dutch border and inspired by the simple beauty of Mediterranean villages like Portofino. Porto Cupecoy offers an eclectic array of boutiques, restaurants, and gourmet grocers, as well as a world-class marina and magnificent luxury condominiums. Sip cappuccino. Browse local art. Relax on your terrace and take in the view. Your every wish is within reach.
Seafood
Located on the lagoon in Simpson Bay, SkipJack's was recently voted St. Maarten's "Best Seafood Restaurant" and "Top Three Best for Lunch". They offer a nautically themed waterfront dining atmosphere while presenting seafood so fresh they have their own "Fish Market". Open for lunch and dinner, SkipJack's features "live" Maine and Caribbean lobsters, daily specials, and a complete wine list. But landlubbers should not despair because they also serve a variety of great steaks, ribs, chicken, and pasta dishes.
