Welcome to PANAMA!

The southernmost country of Central America, Panama borders Costa Rica, Colombia, the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Famous for the Panama Canal – one of the Seven Wonders of the World – Panama boasts an impressive quantity and quality of exciting tourist attractions. These include biodiverse rainforests with some of the best birdwatching in the world, stunning mountain vistas, 48 fascinating historical sites, seven living native cultures, 1,500 islands on the Caribbean and Pacific coasts, beautiful beaches and a vibrant capital city with nonstop nightlife, casinos, nightclubs, superb restaurants and coffee houses.

Predominantly Caribbean and Spanish in its culture and customs, Panama's official language is Spanish; English is also widely spoken. Long recognized as an exceptionally visitor-friendly country, Panama is also one of the safest countries in the world for tourists.

Offering vacationers consistently pleasant temperatures, Panama's tourism is a year-round affair. Panama has two seasons – a “dry” season of no rain (mid-December to mid-April) and a “green” season that typically brings a brief, refreshing tropical shower late each afternoon (mid-April to December). The country also has two climate zones. With temperatures ranging from 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, Panama's tropical and humid lowlands include Panama City. The highlands offer spring-like temperatures throughout the year.

Rich in history and natural attractions, Panama offers travelers a wide array of vacation experiences – from secluded and romantic getaways and honeymoons to adventure-filled days and thrilling nights. An affordable exotic destination, Panama vacations deliver pristine nature and unique, off-the-beaten-path experiences without the hordes of tourists.

When in Panama, look for your copy of Panama Days magazine to see the best the country has to offer. It is available in the guestrooms of APATEL member hotels.
