Welcome to CURAÇAO!

Located in the southern part of the Caribbean Sea off the west coast of Venezuela, Curaçao is the largest of the five islands of the Netherlands Antilles. Rich in culture, diversity, history and inspiring scenery, Curaçao is a 180-square-mile island paradise blessed by beautiful beaches, crystal clear turquoise water and picture-perfect weather.

Curaçao has over 38 beaches ranging from intimate rocky coves surrounded by cliffs to stretches of white powdery sand. Its surrounding waters offer some of the most spectacular snorkeling and diving in the world. With an average rainfall of less than 22 inches a year, Curaçao’s weather virtually guarantees vacationers sunny skies no matter when they visit. The island’s dry, desert climate produces average temperatures around 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Even in the rainy season between October and February, Curaçao receives only short, occasional showers that occur mostly at night.

The picturesque port town of Willemstad is the capital of Curaçao and the Netherlands Antilles and its historic center figures on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Featuring buildings of 17th- and 18th-century Dutch colonial design, Willemstad’s stunning architecture recalls early Amsterdam. The Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge joins the city’s two main sections, Punda and Otrobanda. When strolling through the city, you will hear Papiamentu, the language spoken by 90% of the local population. English and Spanish are also widely spoken on the island and road signs and advertisements are in Dutch, which is the official language.

An easy-going island, Curaçao is home to welcoming locals, beautiful architecture, vibrant casinos and nightclubs, world-class accommodations, gourmet restaurants, folkloric festivals, exclusive boutiques and other treats for travelers. Whether you want an action-packed adventure, romantic getaway or Caribbean honeymoon, Curaçao is an unforgettable destination.

Be sure to pick up your free copy of Curaçao Nights magazine when you arrive on Curaçao and discover the best the island has to offer! The magazine is available just about everywhere on the island.
